Goodell Pratt Peddle Lathe / Grinder / DrillGoodell Pratt Peddle Lathe / Grinder / Drill  This treadle / pedal lathe / grinder / drill is in very nice condition and looks to be all original.  The tool rest, outboard grinder and drilling attachment are present.  Take a look at all the pics.  This style lathe was offered for a number of years and by different outfits over that period.  It was a popular item, and well received despite its small size and limited capacity.

Fine  . . . . .  SOLD!!

Barnes #6 Scroll SawBarnes #6 Scroll Saw  The operation of this model is different from most of those encountered  in that it derives its power from a small round leather belt and pulley system instead of the springy wooden arms which are typical on these saws.  This example is in very nice condition and has no major casting problems or breaks.  There is still considerable pin striping on the body, and it displays very nicely.

Good . . . . . .   SOLD

H. M. Quackenbush of Herkimer NY Pedal Powered Wood LatheH. M. Quackenbush of Herkimer NY Pedal Powered Wood Lathe   The overall condition of this rare cast iron pedal lathe is very nice. Note the patented main chuck in one of the pics.  It is about 26" between centers and a bit over 3" from center to bed.  There are two different lathe rests and a couple choices for the tail stock. There is an assortment of additional tooling stored in the 2 drawers that have been added below the original wooden top. There is no belt but I see no reason it would not work and I see no casting cracks or other damage.  It is smaller than a Barnes, but bigger, nicer, and better built than other smaller lathes like the New Rodgers or Millers Falls Lathes of the period.  The flywheel must weigh close to 50 lbs.  Please check all the pics.

There is a lot of info on H. M. Quackenbush the inventor / maker of this lathe on the internet. There is a history about him and the company at Wikipedia. I learned there he was most famous for his spring loaded nutcracker and the line of BB guns and rimfire guns he produced. There is some info on the lathe that can be found including catalog entries in online vintage catalog reprints for different models he made. There is also and entry and images of a similar lathe on the site www.vintagemachinery.org  That info notes that Ken Cope could not find an example to put in his book on antique tools.  Very Nice!!

Good +  . . . . . .  SOLD!!

Barnes #3 Pedal Powered Antique 5' Lathe This is a super nice example of Barnes's largest and most popular pedal powered lathe.  Over the years it was offered in several different configurations, with this being the final version.  Barnes stopped production of these in the late 20's due to a number of considerations including the depression, and the fact that electricity was becoming available in remote places.  They came in several lengths with this being the 5' model.  The condition of the working parts is excellent, tight and ready to again perform any lathe related task given to it.  All parts are original except for the rod to hold the seat up, and there is one small weld repair to the butterfly shaped bracket that holds the main shaft to the leg assembly.  The belt will need to be replaced but is whole for the moment.  The head stock and tailstock show little signs of wear or even use and are tight and nice.  The tool rest which is the larger version is nice as well.  These are not found very often, and the condition and functionality is great.

Good . . . . .   SOLD

Levin Jeweler's Lathe with Collets and AccessoriesLevin Jeweler's Lathe with Collets and Accessories  Everything in the first pic is included as one lot and as is. I took individual pics so you could determine what is what and see details as I do not know what to call half of it.  Any questions are going to have to be pretty general as I know little about the details with this. All of what you see came as one lot and has been sitting on a shelf in one box for about 20 years. There was some surface rust on some pieces which I cleaned off with a soft wire wheel.

There are over 40 collets. All are marked Levin. In the last two pics I separated them into those with fractional sizes and those with #'s are in front. I noted that there are several the same size and there are 6 of one size grouped in the second row in the last pic. I am not going to list off the sizes individually.

I got all of the motions freed up and moving smoothly on the other parts. Some were frozen or very stiff. Note that the tail stock has a shim on the sole. The draw action works smoothly and I feel no slop in it or the tail stocks. Likewise I see or feel nothing wrong with other things that should move.

Good . . . . . .  SOLD

Marshall Jeweler's Lathe with Collets and Accessories  This entire  Jeweler's or Watchmakers Lathe setup appears to be in very nice condition.  Jeweler's or Watchmakers lathes are typically pretty easy to find, it is the accessories that can be elusive and cost a small fortune.  This one comes with about everything you would need to have a complete and working setup.   The motor is there and running, it has a tool rest, the head, the tailstock, a three jaw chuck, a couple other chucks or faceplates mounted down below, a cross feed, approx 60 collets and a drawer full of misc parts and accessories.  Everything appears to be running smoothly with no apparent damage or problems that you need to hear about.  Most of the collets I looked at are marked Peerless and are in excellent condition with no signs of rust or excessive use.  All in all a very nice set-up, and  if you are looking for a complete and working setup to start a shop or add to the existing shop you need look no further.

Good . . . . . . SOLD

Treadle Powered Lathe Small Treadle Powered Lathe This small lathe is in very nice condition, and there are no casting breaks in the frame or foot pedal.  It is unmarked as to manufacturer, but is typical of the many different styles that were available back near the turn of the last century.

Good . . . . . . SOLD

Goodell Pratt LatheGoodell Pratt Lathe  This Goodell Pratt small lathe is in very nice condition, and there are no casting breaks in the frame.

Good . . . . .  SOLD

Star Pedal; Powered JigsawStar Pedal; Powered Jigsaw  Star Jigsaw has been restored. It looks pretty good and seems to be operable.   I believe the table has been recast / replaced.  It has a lip at the edge and so might be right and just buffed up for the restoration.  Note that under the arm there is a tube and rod affair.  This looks to be a recreation to represent what i assume was a blower to blow the dust from the work.  The rest of this saw looks great and it is a very graphic and showy piece with its flared leg design and paint decoration.  There is patent info up near the top, and a lot of original paint and decoration remain there.

Good . . . .  SOLD

Lathe / Jigsaw CombinationLathe / Jigsaw Combination  This has been restored as well.  It too seems to be in operating condition, and the unusual little lather attached up front looks original and operational as well.  It will need a belt to make it work though.  The foot pedal looks to be a later wooden replacement.  The tool box attached to the frame does not look original to me.  I believe the table may be a replacement as well.

Good . . . . .   SOLD

Hobbies JigsawHobbies Jigsaw  This Jigsaw is as found.   It looks pretty good and seems to be operable.   It seems to just need a cleaning and to be tightened up, or bolted down.

Good . . . . .  SOLD

Barnes Velocipede #2 Jigsaw Barnes Velocipede #2 Jigsaw  This pedal powered Barnes jigsaw has been sitting on the same shelf for over 20 years.  It was repainted and restored when bought, and has sat  idly waiting for its time to come.  The shelf is about 8' up in the air so it was a bit difficult to get any real good shots.  I could not see any repairs or evidence of welding, but could not get all the way around it.  Both the buyer (a collector), and seller (another collector),  were old time tool collectors, and any major mechanical defects would have been addressed before raising it to this resting place.  These Barnes Velocipede model jigsaws are becoming very hard to find these days.  The price assumes there is nothing materially wrong, and if truly interested I can give you more detailed info.

Good . . . . . .  SOLD

Barnes #7 Pedal JigsawBarnes  #7 Pedal Jigsaw  This pedal powered Barnes jigsaw is a bit less complex than the Velocipede offered above and was the more common model sold as it was less expensive.  This saw needs a bit of restoration and reassembly. The original top needs to be glued back up, the belt is missing and the rod from the pedal needs to be replaced.

There is lots of original paint and decoration left, and the previous owner has applied a coat of clear lacquer or the like to protect it.  This one will make a fine user with a little effort.

Good . . . . . . SOLD

Antique Pedal Powered JigsawChallenge Jigsaw  This Challenge Jigsaw by Seneca Falls Mfg. Co of NY has been partially restored. It looks pretty good and seems to be operable but not all is correct or original.   I believe the table has been recast / replaced.  It has casting ribs on the bottom and a lip at the edge and so might be right and just buffed up for the restoration.  One of the foot peddles has a break in it, and the entire bracket affair to hold it in place looks to be made up.  The rest of this saw looks great and it is a very graphic and showy piece with its flared leg design and paint decoration.  There is patent info up near the top, and a lot of original paint and decoration remain there.

Challenge Jigsaw  . . . . . . . SOLD!

Emmert Patternmakers ViceEmmert Patternmakers Vice This is the large size vice that these folks produced, and it has the ability to hold just about anything, in any position that you could stick in it.  Everything is here including the angle plate, the adjusting rod and the bracket for it.  This vice is NOS as in never been used and has just some minor spots of rust on the bar from storage.  The jaws still have the original grease on them.  The handle and the rod are still in their original paper wrappings taped together.  There is nothing about this one that you will not like.

Fine . . . . . .  SOLD

Unimat Lathe / Milling Machine w/ AccessoriesUnimat Lathe / Milling Machine w/ Accessories in Original Box  This miniature lathe / milling machine looks to have seen little use and was carefully used and well taken care of when it was.  The owner was particular in the way he took care of his tools and about the tools he had.  The pics below are individual shots of all the accessories he had stored in a separate box.  There is a 3 and 4 jaw chuck, several face plates, the milling table, and a host of other accessories and pieces.  The original manual / instructions are also included.
