Antique Electric Motor

Sales Archive

Crocker-Wheeler 1/6 H.P. Bipolar Electric Motor    This 1/6 H.P. motor appears to be in fine restored condition, and I believe it has been carefully repainted.  The windings  appear to be fine.  These smaller versions of these early electric motors are harder to find than their larger brothers, and I have a 1/4 H.P. model available as well if you are looking for that size.

The top brass plate on this one has one patent date from 1891, and it says it is a 3 Amp. 10 Volt that runs at 1300 RPM.   The quadruple brushes are carbon blocks  I would imagine that this motor would run all day, and have no trouble putting any current product to shame.  It is just about 8 3/4" tall and 12" long.   There are not many of these left and they make for a graphic display and represent an important part in the history of the development of electrical technology in this countries history.  Rare and recommended!           SOLD!

Crocker Wheeler 1/4 Horsepower Electric Motor  This motor was patented in the 1890's and is a graphic statement about electrical technology during this period.   The standards of quality and engineering that machines and tools were built to during this period was second to none, and is the sort of thing where phrases like they do not make them like they use to stem from.  This motor weighs close to 100 lbs. and I imagine could still bury 10 similarly rated motors from today in any test having to do with its running abilities, longevity,  power, etc if put to a test.  I first became aware of these motors through the smaller  looking toy and model motors that I also buy and collect, and then learned that there were people that were also interested in and collecting larger early examples of electrical technology and I began to pay attention.  Most of these motors were scrapped long ago, but some have survived, although nor very many in the super condition that this one is in.  SOLD!

Small Open Frame Electric Motor    This small motor appears to be in fine original condition.  The windings  appear to be fine.  These smaller early electric motors are hard to find these days and this one just has 10 years of dust on it from sitting on my shelf.  It is really in nice condition.  It is unmarked as to rating or other info, but I believe will run off of small voltages like 6 or less.  I have not run it, but would guarantee that it would run.    SOLD!
