Stanley No. 11 Belt Makers Scraper Plane  An unusual plane originally designed scrape and dress leather belts for line driven machinery. Overall very nice condition. No issues. Long proper cutter w/ T logo dates it from 1907 - 1910. Nice maple handle.  Nice!

Stanley # 11 1/2 Floor Plane  This unusual plane was made for less than 15 years back at the beginning of the 1900's.  It looks great, and sports a new coat of paint or enhancement of the original paint.  The 11 1/2 Floor Plane is very similar in design to the #11 with the main difference being the longer front piece.  They were originally intended for the surfacing of hardwood floors.  They are used today in furniture making.   Hard to find!!

Early Stanley / Bailey # 13 Compass Plane  I do not seem to be able to find a type study for the #13 plane and so do not know exactly where this fits into the scheme of things.  It is not a type 1 as the folding strips on those have a different design.  It does have a solid nut w/o the Bailey name on it, and it has a solid cap.  The cutter and chip breaker have Bailey patent info on them.  I assume those features would make it an early type 2 or so.  It is dirty, and where the sole attaches at the front has some issues as can be seen in the pics.  Probably a pretty rare version of this plane that will clean to look more presentable for the collection.

Stanley # 20 Compass Plane  The #20 compass plane is the compass plane of choice for most users.  This one is like new and is ready to go back to work.   Very nice!!

Stanley / Victor # 20 Compass Plane  Fine condition. No issues. Lightly cleaned of shelf dust. Near 100% of the original japanning. Full length proper marked cutter. The favored compass plane of users given its robust design. A great user, or an example more than nice enough for the collection.

Stanley # 40 Scrub Plane   This Stanley #40 scrub plane is one of the last versions put out, and is in exceptional condition.  This example is all original and very nice with 95% of the original japanning and no rust or pitting.  The cutter is full length, nice, and marked with the notched rectangle logo.  This plane is waiting to go back to work or put up on the shelf it is so nice.   Nice!!

Stanley # 40 1/2 Scrub Plane   The Stanley #40 1/2 is the larger version of the more common #40 scrub plane.  This example is all original and in very nice condition.  There are still remains of the decal on the handle,  The cutter is marked with the sweetheart logo, and is near full length.  This plane is waiting to go back to work or put up on the shelf it is so nice.   Nice!!

Stanley # 40 1/2 Scrub Plane   This sweetheart era Stanley #40 1/2 scrub plane is in Fine condition.  No rust or pitting.  The cutter is nice.   Partial decal on handle.  Super!!

Stanley # 48 T & G Swing Arm Flooring Plane  Proper cutters.  Nothing wrong,  has seen little use and has minimal nickel losses.  It will be a good user!

Stanley # 48 Tongue & Groove Match Plane The overall cosmetic condition is very good. Nickel has minor losses and a bit of rust coming through. It is Sweetheart era making it approx. 100 years old. It will clean to be nicer. Good proper long cutters. Fence is tight w/ no play or slop and swings nicely. Better than most!!

Stanley # 49 Tongue & Groove Match Plane   Stanley offered this design plane in two sizes, the #48, & 49.  This is the smaller size designed to be used on 1/2 - 3/4" stock, it cut a 3/16ths Tongue and groove centered on 1/2".  The fence swings to allow it to cut one profile and then swung 180 degrees to cut the second.  This example is very nice with the nickel being 95% or better.  The cutters are proper.    Nice!!

Stanley # 49 Tongue & Groove Match Plane The overall cosmetic condition is very good. Nickel has minor losses and a bit of rust coming through. It is in Fine overall condition. The No. 49 is far harder to find than the larger No. 48.

Used to make 3/16" tongue and groove match joints on boards 1/2" to 3/4", centering on 1/2". For cutting a groove only one cutter is exposed and to cut a tongue, the fence is rotated 180 degrees to expose both cutters for the second cut.

Original full length cutters, good nickel, nice wood, proper slotted bugle shape cap screws. Swing fence is tight w/ no slop. This 100 + year old plane saw little use and is ready to be put back to work, or added to the collection.

Early Stanley # 48 Tongue & Groove Match Plane  This early example of a Stanley 48 has Miller's 7/6/75 patent date stamped into the bottom of the plane. (see pics)  It is not marked with the name or number anywhere.  Walters makes no mention of this and says Type 1's are marked w/ a later 1876 date.  One of those unexplained anomalies!!   Very Nice!!

Stanley No. 48 Swinging Fence T & G Match Plane   A good user.

Stanley No. 48 T & G (Union 41) Match Plane This is an unusual Union Tool made No. 41 T & G Plane that was converted to a Stanley No. 48 Tongue & Groove Match Plane by Stanley after they had bought out Union Tool.

At first glance one would assume it is simply a Stanley Rule & Level Co. No. 48 Match Plane, that was unmarked save for the decal handle and cutter hold down screw w/ a Sweetheart logo.

In fact though, it is a converted Union No. 41 T&G plane that Stanley worked on so it could be sold a Stanley No. 48.

To do that Stanley milled out the handle area where it said Union, and along the frame where the #41 would be and painted those areas black and added the Stanley decal to the handle. The No. 48 is nowhere to be found or seen.

One cutter is marked Stanley and looks good. The longer cutter looks like an early # 45 cutter. Overall condition is clean & nice. There is some minor light rust that will easily clean and little to no pitting or heavy rust on exposed areas. The nickel plating is pretty good.

An unusual variation that does not turn up very often.

Stanley # 56 Core Box Plane  The #56 Core Box plane is one of the hardest to find of the Stanly special use planes. The collector bought this from Iron Horse Tool Auctions and paid the hefty sum of $1260.00 back in the 80's.  A large amount to pay for any Stanley plane.

The condition is very nice with no rust, pitting, or damage to speak of.  The japanning does have some small pockmarks in it and a small area of some missing.  All in all a rare plane in nice condition that will make for a welcome addition to your collection.

Stanley # 62 Low Angle Cabinet Makers Plane   This Stanley # 62 low angle cabinet makers plane is in very nice original condition.  The throat is perfect and this plane shows little signs of use.  It retains nearly all of the original japanning and there is no rust or pitting on the exposed areas.  The cutter still has the original grind.   A nice plane ready for the collection or bench.

Stanley # 62 Low Angle Block Plane  This No. 62 low angle moveable front block plane is a pre WWII Sweetheart era model. Nice Rosewood, 95% or better of the original finish. No issues, no apologies. Nice enough for the collection, or will make for a great user!

Stanley #66 Hand Beader / Shave  A super condition japanned example.  Has both guides, with different thumbscrews.  They originally came w/ two guides, and one thumbscrew which you moved back and forth.  Thus explaining why they are always missing.   Shown w/ 1 cutter, but I have an original set of 7 to go with this.

Stanley # 71 & 71 1/2 Router Planes The overall condition of either is pretty nice.  Dull nickel w/ some loss but no rust or other damage.  The 71 1/2 has 3 cutters with 2 being newer replacements.

Stanley #71 Router Plane   A nice example.  Complete w/ original 3 cutters.  The box is a bit ratty.  It is a US made version. No condition issues.   A useful tool and favorite with users.

Stanley #72 Chamfer Plane w/ Beading Attachment  The plane is nice.  The top of the tote has some losses.  The back of the beading attachment is pitted, but it is all OK.  There is no cutter or lever cap for the plane attachment.  A project looking for a few parts.

Stanley # 62 Low Angle Block Plane  This No. 62 Low Angle Adjustable Front Low Angle Stanley block plane is a pre Sweetheart era model. Nice Rosewood, 90% or so of the original finish. Shows lite wear. It will make for a great user!

Stanley # 97 Cabinet Maker Edge / Chisel Plane  This is a nice Stanley #97 Low Angle Chisel Plane.  The leading edge of the plane is nice.  The cutter is full length and there is no pitting or rust.  The plane retains well over 90% of the original japanning and there is just a nice even patina on the exposed areas.  A nice looking plane in nice condition!!

Stanley # 69 Beader / Scraper  A nice example of a hard to find collectible Stanley tool.  This is a hard to find versatile beader /scraper.  It is complete with an original set of cutters. The condition is very nice and this beader has seen little use. Most users prefer the #66 or #72, but these are handy and versatile in their own right.

Stanley # 72 1/2 Chamfer Plane w/ Boxed Beading Attachment  The plane is an early version, not a type 1, but dates from before the turn of the century given the cutter logo. The beading attachment is in the original green tattered green label box. The attachment itself is like new. The cutter screw is marked with the patent date. One original cutter, and a 8 piece set of newer ones. Interesting and nice.

Stanley #74 Floor Plane  The plane is nice.  As is often the case, the yoke and handle are gone from this example.  These unusual planes weigh in at close to 20 lbs.  Can you imagine pushing that around all day?  The overall condition is nice with 85% or so of the original japanning.

Stanley 74 Floor Plane This No. 74 Flooring Plane weighs just under 20 lbs. Imagine pushing one of these around all day.  The original japanning is good. Proper cutter is nice. As is typical, the handle was left behind one day.  Functional and ready to go back to work or be displayed.  A pretty nice example.

Stanley # 85 Cabinet Makers Scraper Plane  Stanley offered this style scraper plane for approx. 30 years and ended production in 1935. They functioned similar to other less expensive scrapers but had the added draw of tilting handles.   Overall nice condition.  Long marked cutter. Rear handle looks to be a well done replacement.

Stanley # 95 Edge Trimming Plane This is in nice condition.  95% of the original jappaning or better.  Good cutter, no apologies.   Used to true up the edges of boards.  Handy tool.  Ready for the shelf or bench.

Stanley # 95 Edge Trimming Plane  A popular design plane for truing up the edges of boards.  Overall very nice condition. Offered from 1911 - 1961.

Stanley No. 95 Edge Trimming Plane  Over 95% original japanning. Losses to high spots. Overall very nice condition. Designed to clean edges of boards in cabinet or furniture making shops. No issues. Very Nice!

Stanley # 113 Compass Plane  The 113 is one of the best known, and easily recognizable of all Stanley special use planes.  The sole of this compass plane can be adjusted to a convex or concave curve with a simple turn of the front knob.  This example is from near the turn of the century and has a lateral adjuster that earlier versions did not.  It has a nice even patina, and shows some signs of use, but not abuse, and is ready to be put back into use.  A nice example.

Stanley Second Model  # 113 Compass Plane  This 113 has the nickel wheel w/ 4 holes.  It is just a little dirty and has seen little use.   It is fully functional and pretty nice overall.  Everything is tight and proper and overall it is much nicer than the one above condition wise.  These early versions are much harder to find than the later ones.

Type 8 A (1936 - 1939) Stanley # 113 Compass Plane   Minty nice, top shelf collector condition. The type 8 A had a floral design cap for the main bed adjuster knob.   The type 8 A was offered for only a few short years between 1936 & 1939 and is one of the hardest to find variants / types of the 113 plane to find.  Production for the #113 compass plane ended in 1942 with the advent of WWII so this dates from near the end of their production here in the US.  None nicer!!

Stanley 113 Compass / Circular Plane  This Sweetheart era 113 dates from the 1920s to mid 1930s. Nice near full length cutter. Lots of original japanning. Nice even patina w/ little or no pitting or rust. Another example where my camera and lighting highlight the few rusty spots. It is nicer in person. Very nice!

Stanley 113 Compass Plane This Stanley No. 113 compass or circular plane is in very nice overall condition. It is a type 8 that dates from before WWII. The japanning is 96% or better and original. Minor rust spots that will clean. No issues. Very clean and very nice!!

3 Stanley # 144 Edge Rounding Planes This grouping represents all the sizes, 1/4, 3/8 & 1/2" that Stanley made of this interesting rounding plane.  They are all in nice condition and ready for the shelf or bench.

Stanley # 146 / # 147 / & # 148 Tongue & Groove Planes   Here are all three sizes of these versatile planes that Stanley made.  The 2 smaller size ones are very nice, all original and will make great users or additions to the collection.    Nice!!

Stanley # 146  SOLD!!   # 147 SOLD!! & #148 SOLD!! Tongue & Groove Planes   These three planes came from the same fitted box.  The plating on each is near perfect.  One has the original cutters, one has one original and one good replacement, and the 148 has two "blanks" which look to be cutters from a 45 and need to be sized to look proper.  A very nice grouping.

Stanley #147 Tongue & Groove Match Plane  Stanley offered this plane in 3 sizes.  This is the middle one to be used on 1/2 - 3/4" stock.  It cuts a 3/16ths tongue centered on 5/8"  The handle is marked with the # 147 and 5/8 size.   Very Nice!!

Stanley # 148 Double End Match Plane in Box For making T & G boards.  For flooring or furniture.  Cuts a 1/4" tongue centered on 7/8 on either 3/4 or 1" boards.  Minty nice.  Box corners a bit torn.

Stanley # 164 Low Angle Smooth Plane   This plane is in pretty nice condition. The Stanley 164 is considered one the the hardest to find of all planes that Stanley produced. They were introduced in 1926 and production or catalog listings ended with the beginning of WWII. Some have speculated that there was only one production run and it was offered over the next 25 or so years till that supply ran out.

The adjusting mechanism is vertical and very tricky to get to operate, a factor that probably held back sales and plays a factor in its limited availability and super rarity. The cutter on this one is the rectangular block, thus dating it from after 1936 and near the end of the offering. The handle finish is original with losses and could stand to be refinished.   The front knob is nice. The japanning is approx. 70%  with losses both at the front and around the handle. The sides are nice, and the sole has been lapped and looks good. The throat area is nice.  A rare plane at a reasonable price!!

Stanley #164 Low Angle Plane   The 164 low angle plane was offered for less than 20 years and as with many of Stanley special use planes production ended with the coming of WWII.  This rare Stanley low angle plane is in good overall condition noting the grind marks on the sole and the missing jappaning. It is basically damage free and useable as it sits but would look much better if lapped and repainted.    It would be a choice candidate for a restoration and is priced accordingly.

Stanley # 193 Fiber Board Plane   Stanley only made this plane for 10 years or so before WWII and the advent of sheetrock ended its production run.  That fact did not change its appeal value or desirability(lack of) as a collectible.  It has a beautiful period Rosewood handle, and lots of other good spare parts.  There are about 1/2 dozen or more cutters, not shown, as well.  Nice!!

Stanley 193 A Fiber Board Cutter Plane  Nice. This line of Stanley planes for cutting bevels and chamfers on sheets of hardboard was made pretty much obsolete with the introduction of other materials, routers, and other means to cut hard board. Stanley stopped production in the 1950s.

A nice example that looks to have seen little to no use. The handle is good. Body is nice. Lots of aux. parts and cutters. The thumbscrews alone are worth the lion share of the price. No issues to report on.

Stanley # 212 Scraper Plane  Stanley offered this style scraper plane for approx. 25 years and ended production in 1935.   Overall very nice condition.  Unmarked cutter. Original finish.  Was once a must have plane for the fly rod maker crowd, but  9 1/2s and their lower price won the battle when there was so much demand, and little supply.

Stanley # 340 Furring Plane   One of the more unusual and hard to find planes that Stanley offered.  An interesting design that was offered for just 12 years ending in 1917 with the US entry into WWI.  The original condition is very nice and with its Pat Appl'd For cutter would be considered a Type 1.  It looks to have been hardly used.  Condition, condition, condition.   A rare plane ready for the collection.

Stanley # 340 Furring Plane  Stanley offered this plane for less than 15 years and production ended in 1917. They functioned similar to a scrub plane but are far rarer.  This one is in amazing little used condition. Beech handle and knob look good. Long proper cutter w/ patent info.

Stanley #444 Dovetail Plane  The Stanley #444 dovetail plane is one of the oddest planes made by Stanley. They can cut both halves of dovetails.  You can watch this being done on You Tube.  It was offered for a little over 25 years beginning in 1912. This example is in its original box that is a bit rough.  It has all 4 original cutters, and both spur blocks.   I do not see any damage, welds, or pitting, but there has been some nickel loss.
