Stanley #96 26" Brass Bound Rosewood Plumb & Level  This Level is in fine original condition and has never been fiddled with.  It is near mint save a few minor scratches that will disappear with some wax.  It is a Sweetheart era model.  A beautiful example with prime wood.  An upgrade to any collection.  Very nice!!

Stanley No. 32 Inclinometer Level Early Stanley Literature calls it off as a "Patent Adjustable & Graduating Level". It was first offered in the 1860s and dropped from the line before the turn of the century.

Cleaned and refinished with a thick shiny coat of poly or other glossy finish. Some might think it was overdone. The inclinometer feature is all there and working with a good bubble. The label inside is OK, with minor losses. All three bubbles are good. These inclinometer levels do not turn up all that often. Nice enough. .

2 Stanley No. 48 Cast Iron Frame Wood Infill Levels The number 48 & 49 Stanley Cast Iron Frame Levels are seldom seen, and rarely in as nice condition as this pair. Both are in Super condition!! As is typical, neither is marked w/ a name or No. Catalogs and references call off the infill as Walnut.  The No. 48 is 12" long, and the No.49 18" long.  They were only made or offered for about 20 years beginning in the 1870s.

One of these is Rosewood and although I had someone who was trying to buy it, tell me others are around, I have never seen, had, or heard of others save mention of one at the website Vintage Vials. The cast iron frames on both are damage free. The wood on both is very nice.  All bubbles are good. A great pair.

Stanley #96 28"  Brass Bound Rosewood Plumb & Level   This is stamped with a sweetheart logo.  The bubbles are OK.  A nice example of one of Stanley top of the line levels.

Stanley No. 38 & 338 Cast Iron Level Stands  Here are 3 Stanley Leveling Stands.  These tools were designed to turn a level into a rough leveling instrument for layouts and the like.  The Stanley 38 level stand was designed to fit Stanley's line of metal levels.  The 38 is the cast iron level stand with the 12 inch level in it and the level is included.

Stanley # 48 level stands were for wooden levels.

The Stanley # 338 Level Stand can be used with either wood or metal levels.  It has thumbscrews to tighten against both sides of either a wood or metal level.  One of the # 338 stands offered has the lower base that has fittings for legs or a staff, and one does not.

Stanley 30 Inch Rosewood Level   I do not see a model number on this large nice rosewood bodied level.

Stanley #98 12" Rosewood Level   This level is in nice condition and although it shows some wear and loss of finish it is a hard level to find.  The vials appear to be original.

Stanley 6" Brass Bound # 98 Rosewood Level.  This 6" Rosewood level is in very nice condition.  It is an earlier model with the rails pinned as opposed to the later let-in design.  It is unmarked but has all the classic features of Stanley's hardest to find 6" example.

Stanley 14 Inch #13 Nicholson's Patent Level   Marked Stanley on the top plate, and with Nicholson Patent info on the top and bottom disc over the plumb vial.  Note the slot in the bottom frame to allow for viewing the bubble from the bottom when held overhead.  Super condition.  No cracks, chips, breaks, or damage.  Very Nice.

Stanley #13 Nicholson's Patent Level   Another nice example. Marked Stanley on the top plate, and with Nicholson Patent info on the top and bottom disc over the plumb vial. Note the slot in the bottom frame to allow for viewing the bubble from the bottom when held overhead. Super condition. No cracks, chips, breaks, or damage. This one has a darker, never been cleaned patina to the brass portions. Very Nice.

Stanley #14 Nicholson's Patent Level   Marked Stanley on the top plate, and with Nicholson Patent info on the top and bottom disc over the plumb vial.  The # 14 is 20" long.  This example has good bubbles, but little finish left.  The slot in the bottom frame allows for viewing the bubble from the bottom when held overhead.  No cracks, chips, breaks, or damage.

Stanley 42- 320 Level EAIA 50 Year Commemorative An unusual piece.  Like new! The EAIA medallion is shown in the last pic.  How many could they have made?  Different!!

Stanley #49 Iron Frame 18" Mahogany Level   One of Stanley's rarer and harder to find levels.  They were made for approx. 20 years back in the late 1800's.  They came in just two sizes with this being the larger size.  OK overall condition. The iron frame is nice and damage free.  The wood shows wear.  You will not need to drill a hole to hang it, the last guy did that for you.

Stanley # 30 28' Adjustable Double Plumb Vial Level  Nice noting a paint drip on the back side that may wash off w/o hurting the original finish.

Stanley # 49 18" Walnut Plumb & Level w/ Cast Iron Frame   This is a hard to find Stanley Level.  The cast iron frame is OK and not cracked. The Mahogany body is nice, and it looks like the collector put a coat of clear finish on it.  It is unmarked as is typical.   Stanley made these in 2 sizes for about 20 years before the turn of the century and this is the larger model. Both vials are good and look original.   Nice!!

Stanley Sweetheart Era # 98 18" Brass Bound Level  This nice looking level has been cleaned and coated with the collectors trademark lacquer.  It is Made of Mahogany and is a nice example.

Stanley # XX  24"  Cast Iron Nickel Plated Level   This looks like a #36, but it is not marked with any model # in the usual places.  The bubbles are OK.  A nice example.

Stanley #313 24" Aluminum Level  This is NOS and looks to have never been used.  The owner just taped the original box and left it on the shelf   This is nice, and all original.

Stanley # 36G 6" Cast Iron Level  This level is NOS.  All the vials are good, the japanning is near 100%. As a collectible or user, either way it's a good one!

# 37 Stanley 6" Level w/ Copper Flash Finish   The catalog claims this should be nickel plated but this one has a copper finish.  Different.

Stanley # 41 Pocket & Square Level w/ Sheet Brass Top   Marked Stanley and 1896 patent date.  No cracks, chips, breaks, or damage.  Nice.

Stanley #41  Pocket and Square Iron Level   This version of Stanley's small pocket level has a brass top.   It is in good condition overall.  The level vial is good and has been replaced.

Stanley #46  Pocket and Square Iron Level   This unmarked version of Stanley's small pocket level has a brass top and is different from those above in that it has a slot cut in the bottom to receive the squares blade.  They are much harder to find.

Stanley #46 Cast Iron Pocket / Square Level  This small Stanley level is made to attach to a square blade or be used as is.  It is in nice condition.  The vial is original. These are much harder to find than the more common version #41 levels.

3 Stanley Levels  On top is a nice 40, then a 4" 38 1/2, and on the bottom a WWII era brass # 31.

Stanley # 39 1/2 Cast Iron 6" Machinist Level Nice overall condition.  No cracks, chips, or breaks.  Note that it is stamped Damaged above the screw to the left of the Stanley stamp.  It is from a period when a flaw in the nickel plating could earn something that designation as there is no other visible damage to be seen.

Stanley No. 46 Pocket / Square Level  The Stanley 46 pocket level attaches to a square blade or other straight edge along the slot in the bottom.  Both examples are in fine condition with different era logos.   Very Nice!!

Stanley # 1 & # 2 Level Sights in Box  The # 1 & # 2 Stanley Level Sights are made of cast iron while the # 138 sights are stamped brass.   The # 2 on the right fit the Stanley line of wooden levels.  The # 1 on the left fit metal levels with a 1" top rail.   Used to aid in layout, grading, and other building projects.
